China also grew rice in space

BEIJING (Web Desk) – China has successfully experimented with growing rice in space for the first time. Chinese astronauts, known as Tychonots, carried out the experiment at the Vientiane Space Laboratory. The laboratory was launched on July 24 and is currently attached to the Tiangong space station’s main module.
It is the first time that scientists have attempted the complete process of growing rice, from a seed to a plant that can produce its own seeds, in zero gravity. Also experimenting with a plant called This plant belongs to the mustard family and is often used in the study of climate change.
Professor Hui Qiongzheng, a researcher at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said that the rice is growing well. We want to know how microgravity can affect the flowering time of a plant at the molecular level and whether it is possible to use microgravity environments to control the related processes.
One of the most popular foods on the International Space Station is rice, and it has been a staple of astronauts since the Apollo missions.
