World Photography Day: A Brief History and Beautiful Pictures

World Photography Day is being celebrated all over the world today, World Photography Day.com has announced Photography Week from 19th to 26th August this year.

Almost two centuries ago, Louis Daguerre and Joseph Nepse developed the Daguerreotype, the working prototype of photography today.

In 1839, the French government purchased the patent for the Daguerreotype.
The French government did not copyright the patent and presented it to the world as a gift that led to the beginning of commercial photography.

Later in 1839 Henry Fox further simplified this photographic step.

In 2010, 19th August was designated as World Photography Day.
